Dressing

I went to Boston this weekend for the wedding of my boyfriend's old roommate. It was held at a gorgeous historical mansion surrounded by gardens and the couple chose to have the ceremony outside. I love weddings and most of the things that go along with them - dining, dancing, drunkenness - but I HATE trying to find something to wear.

I know exactly what I want to wear I just can't ever find something that fits. Most of the other women there were wearing very cute colorful spring dresses. The problem with dresses is that most of them have what I call "predefined boob spots." This means that if I attempt to put on a dress I will have a line through the middle of my breasts because they simply don't fit in the area that was designed for them. I can buy a dress that is several sizes larger and get my breasts to fit but this means that the rest of the dress is huge, which is fine when I'm trying to be a circus tent.

I would also love to be able to wear strapless dresses but that means I would have to find a strapless bra that fits. Last time I wore a strapless bra was when I was a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding. I was in pain all day but I didn't realize until I took the dress and the bra off later that evening that I was actually bleeding and would be left with scars.

So no more cute dresses for me. The dress I wore to the wedding this weekend was something I found on sale. It's certainly not my favorite dress but amazingly it fits and allows me to wear a regular bra. It's a heavy pea green dress that wasn't really summer wedding appropriate and has a stain on the right side. But it kept the girls so at least I didn't look R rated.

I was willing to rock the stain and just go with it. So, my boyfriend and I get to the wedding and of course the first thing I see as we're entering the reception - another woman wearing my dress. The exact same thing except her boobs were tiny. C'mon! This woman could have fit into a million dresses and yet she chose the ugly one I was forced to wear. And of course her's was stain free.

Ta-ta's for now . . .

  1. Ah, weddings, so much fun. What about the dress you wore to Kurt's wedding? That was a cute one. And no one from Boston would have known you were wearing it again.
